What Is Counseling?
Counseling, which is also known as talk therapy, is a supportive, intentional process that helps you explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a safe and nonjudgmental space. At Renewed Foundations, our counselors use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to help clients better understand themselves. IFS therapy is built around the idea that everyone has different parts inside their internal system that can affect the way they act.
For example, your overachieving inner part might make it hard for you to slow down, or your younger inner part may carry pain from your past. We help you to understand these parts, develop a healthy relationship with them, heal the wounds that they protect, and harmonize your internal system.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from IFS therapy. People come to us for many reasons, including anxiety, depression, past trauma, grief, relationship struggles, or simply feeling stuck. We help you identify what’s getting in the way of your well-being so you can experience true internal transformation.
Each session with us is grounded in trust and respect. You can expect your counselor to listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and work with you to uncover new insights and possibilities. Therapy looks a little different for everyone, and we are here to support your journey however we can.
